The New Cold War

I have posted a story – The New Cold War – on a separate page, I hope you enjoy.

I think this may be the start of a longer piece. We plan and invest in armies and equipment, but pull a country down with its financial system, or its computer networks and the damage is far greater.

Conspiracy theories regarding the financial collapse abound, and truth is always stranger than fiction. Suggestions that the Russians engineered the a financial meltdown are very attractive when the alternative is that greed, mostly for personal gain, was really the issue that needed to be addressed.

Secret pacts between banks and governments, disappearing funds – could be the plot lines of a thriller. The reality for everyday folk is far more mundane, struggling to pay bills, energy, housing and food. Very basic needs.

Look up Directorate K in the Russian Security Service organisation, and there will be counterparts in the rest of the world, including the USA, but for the public, financial security is a stable economy that allows them to work and in turn enjoy food, housing, health care and education.
